Emergency Department
Our Emergency Department [ED] works around the clock with dedicated staff to provide you with quality care. We handle a variety of acute illnesses and health care emergencies for adults and children. We have 12 acute care beds providing our community with a high standard of equitable emergency care.

We are part of the South Western Sydney Local Health District that includes Liverpool Hospital, Bankstown Hospital, Bowral Hospital and Campbelltown/Camden Hospitals as well as other community facilities. We have a close academic relationship with the University of Western Sydney supporting students of Nursing, Allied Health and Medicine training
Our team comprises Emergency Staff Specialists - Senior Medical Staff that rotate through the Hospitals of SWSLHD, Career Medical Officers (CMOs), Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs), Nursing team, Administration team supported by other departments within the hospital including Allied Health and pharmacy.
The Emergency Service is overseen by the Director Emergency Medicine and supported by our Medical Officers. Nursing services within the department are led by the Nurse Manager, who is supported by Clinical Nurse Consultants and Clinical Nurse Educators. Other nursing staff have varying levels of expertise comprising of Clinical Nurse Specialists, Registered Nurses and Endorsed Enrolled Nurses.
How Our Department Works
When you arrive at Emergency you will be seen by a triage nurse to evaluate the severity of your illness or injury. Following triage, you may have to wait in our ED waiting room depending on the number of emergencies [critically ill and injured patients] in the department. You will then be called into the Emergency Department for further care and treatment.
